Robert S. Miyashita, founding partner at Miyashita & O’Steen, LLLC, specializes in wrongful death and catastrophic personal injury cases involving brain, spinal cord, burn, aquatic, psychological and emotional, and other related injuries. Robert represents clients who suffered from injuries and damages as a result of motor vehicle negligence (automobile, pedestrian, trucks, motorcycle, airplane, boat, etc.), product liability, premises liability, negligent security, medical malpractice, among other areas of law. He provides clients with services involving thorough investigations and claims building, analysis of insurance coverage and issues, customized strategic litigation planning, navigation of insurance and medical systems, and legal representation for litigation, including trial and appeals.

Robert was born and raised on the island of Oʻahu. After living and practicing law in Florida, and having exposure to other states, he and his wife decided to return back home so they could raise their children in Hawaiʻi where they would be able to learn the unique culture of the state and perpetuate the true essence of aloha and ʻohana.

Prior to moving back to Hawaiʻi, Robert worked as lead counsel at Romano Law Group where he managed, supervised and developed the personal injury department. He handled complex multi-party litigation (pre-suit through trial/appeal) with a focus on traumatic brain injuries, catastrophic injuries, and wrongful death, relating to motor vehicle crashes, trucking crashes, boating crashes, airplane crashes, product liability, premise liability, negligent security, employment law, bad faith, and mass torts. He was also lead counsel in the mass tort division overseeing multi-district litigation (MDL) involving Actos and Propecia. Robert recovered millions of dollars for clients in pre-suit and litigation cases and successfully negotiated high-dollar settlements, including multi-million-dollar settlements. While in Florida, he was a proud member of Florida Justice Association (Eagle Member), Palm Beach County Lawyers Association, Western Trial Lawyers Association, and Top Attorneys in Florida Rising Stars

At Travelers Insurance Company, Robert was lead counsel on personal injury cases resulting in wrongful death and catastrophic injuries and he litigated cases involving premises liability, property damage, construction, automobile, negligent hiring/retention, PIP, UM/UIM, wrongful eviction, and other general negligence claims. He also worked with general counsel on insurance coverage matters. He was the appointed South Florida Regional Liaison responsible for overseeing state-wide investigations involving insurance fraud and closely worked with the Special Investigations Unit, Claims Department, and Department of Insurance Fraud. In addition, he was the only candidate in Florida and one of thirteen candidates selected in the entire nation for the Travelers Insurance Summer Associate Training Program.

Robert also gained legal experience interning at the Florida Supreme Court under Chief Justice Ricky L. Polston, the Hawaiʻi Intermediate Court of Appeals under Appellate Chief Judge Mark E. Recktenwald (current Hawaiʻi Supreme Court Chief Justice), the Circuit Court of the First Circuit, State of Hawaiʻi, under the Honorable Patrick W. Border, and the Criminal Division of Circuit Court, State of Hawaiʻi, under the Honorable Michael A. Town. Robert also interned at the U.S. Attorney’s Office Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division.
