Real Estate Scams
A "scam" is defined a fraudulent business scheme or the act of swindling by some fraudulent scheme. Real estate scams exist at all levels and in every part of the world. Real estate scams have been in existence since the time of real estate sales. They occur every day of the year.
Legal claims resulting from real estate scams often amount to various tortuous claims, such as "fraud". If a party prevails on a claim for fraud or other tortuous conduct, the Court would likely grant a judgment that would place the injured party in the position they would be in if such a scam were not to have occurred. Courts often award punitive damages to the injured party, which are designed to punish the culprit and send a message to others in the community not to engage in similar conduct.
