Discrimination
An employer is generally allowed to terminate an employee if the employee is unable to perform the work as well as another employee. An employer may also terminate an employee if they do not fit within the “corporate culture” of the workplace. While these rules generally hold true, an employer is not permitted to make any decisions based on RACE, GENDER, RELIGION, PREGNANCY, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, COLOR, CREED or DISABILITY. An employer also may not RETALIATE against an employee who complains of discrimination, no matter whether such discrimination is by the employer or other employees in the work place.
An employee who has been affected on the basis of a one or more of the above protected classes may be entitled to damages.
